The Iranian Christian Freedmen Party (AMA) strongly condemns the issuance of death sentences to a number of detainees from the January 1404 protest movement in Iran and expresses deep concern about the imminent danger of these sentences being carried out and the lives of dozens of other detainees.
Following the January 1404 movement, there have been reports of death sentences being issued against detainees of the movement. These sentences are being issued amid serious concerns about the observance of fair trial principles, free access of defendants to independent counsel, forced confessions, and the deprivation of detainees of basic human rights.
We believe that the Islamic Republic is once again trying to silence the voices of the Iranian people by using the death penalty, creating fear and intimidation, and threatening the families of protesters. The execution of protesters is not a sign of a government’s authority, but rather an expression of its fear of the will of the people who want freedom, human dignity, and a different future for Iran.
The Iranian Christian Freedmen Party (AMA) emphasizes that the right to life is a fundamental and inalienable right, and no government should use the gallows as a tool to suppress civil and political protests.
Call to parties, organizations and human rights activists
We call on all Iranian political parties, human rights organizations, civil society organizations, political and social activists, independent figures, and freedom-loving Iranians around the world not to remain silent in the face of this danger and to initiate immediate, coordinated, and international action to prevent the executions.
In this regard, the Iranian Christian Freedmen Party proposes:
- Holding coordinated protest rallies: with the participation of Iranian political and human rights parties and groups in front of the embassies and representations of the Islamic Republic in major cities around the world.
- Launching an international campaign to save the lives of detainees: with the aim of immediately stopping the executions and garnering support from global public opinion.
- Pressure on governments and international institutions: including the United Nations, the European Union, parliaments of democratic countries, and international human rights organizations, to condemn these sentences and apply diplomatic pressure on the Islamic Republic.
- Widespread information dissemination in the media and social networks: to introduce the names and status of detainees, document human rights violations, and prevent their fate from being forgotten.
- Formation of a joint coalition: consisting of political parties, human rights activists, and Iranian civil society groups abroad, to coordinate actions, hold rallies, and continuously monitor the status of prisoners facing execution.
Today is not the time for political differences and different viewpoints; the issue is the lives of people who are falling victim to the Islamic Republic’s machine of repression at every moment.
We believe that rescuing the lives of those detained in the January 1404 movement should become an urgent and shared priority for all freedom-loving forces in Iran.
We call on all political and human rights parties, organizations, and organizations to work together to form a coordinated and inclusive movement, rather than taking scattered actions.
Let us not allow the Islamic Republic to execute the January protesters in silence.
